Care & maintenance
Rotate
Make sure to turn your rug from time to time. This helps balance out the effects of daily foot traffic and sunlight exposure. By rotating it evenly, your rug will evenly, and it's one of the simplest ways to extend the life of a large area rug.
Vaccum
The number one rule of rug care is vacuuming regularly to remove dry dirt. Rugs benefit from frequent vacuuming - ideally once a weak, and even more often in busy areas. Move back and forth over the same section atleast four times to get the best results. Don't wait until the Vacuum bag is completely full; replace it once it's about halfway to keep suction strong.
For best results, use a suction-only canister vacuum to reduce pilling, fuzz or pulls. If that's not possible, set your vacuum so the brush is raised higher from the carpet surface. For cut pile rugs, a dual-motor vacuum with brush rolls is recommended. For loop pile rugs, stick to suction-only models. If you're aiming for top notch cleaning, check that your vacuum has the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Seal of Approval/Green label. Visit carpet-rug.org for approved options.

Professionally Clean
From time to time, your rug may need a deeper clean than what you can do at home. When that happens, take it to a professional cleaner to bring it back to its best condition. Avoid using stain-repellent treatments that contain silicone, as they can actually make carpets attract dirt faster.
Don't Let Stains Sit
Act quickly when spills happen. Treating stains right away prevents them from becoming more stubborn. For step-by-step guidance on tackling common stains, check out our stain treatment tips.

Stain treatment
Accidents happen, but the good news is that stains are usually easier to handle than they look. Start by removing any solids—use a spoon to gently lift them, always working from the outside of the stain toward the center. For liquids, blot immediately with white paper towels or a clean, absorbent cloth. Remember: never rub, since rubbing pushes the liquid deeper into the fibers and can make the stain worse.
Because liquid spills tend to pull dirt to the surface, they may leave behind a darker spot. To treat this, continue blotting with a fresh section of cloth or towel until no more moisture is absorbed.
Next, apply a small amount of your chosen cleaning solution to a cloth (but first test it on a hidden area of your rug to check for colorfastness). Dab the stain with gentle blotting motions, flipping the cloth often so you don’t reapply dirt. Avoid soaking the rug—work from the edges of the spot inward to prevent spreading. Let the cleaner sit for a few minutes, then repeat as needed until the stain is gone.
Once the stain is lifted, remove excess moisture by pressing with dry towels or a sponge. Finally, rinse the area with a cloth dampened in clean water, then blot again to dry.

Care tips
- Flatten corners and dents: Place ice cubes on curled edges or furniture marks and let them melt overnight. Blot any excess moisture with a towel or sponge.
- Change filters: Replace your heating and air conditioning filters regularly to prevent dust from building up in your home and on your rug.
- Quick clean-ups: Use a lint roller to pick up crumbs, pet hair, and small particles.
- Revive flat fibers: Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle, lightly mist the rug, and run a spoon sideways over the fibers to lift and refresh them.
